Best WordPress SEO A Guide to Good Practice

This is an article of mine from ArticleBase which sets out the best way to get a high ranking for your WordPress site.

Although best WordPress SEO involves some things specific to the platform, the basics are the same as with any other type of site.

Subject
Pick a subject, or niche, for your site and stick to it. A tightly focused site is better for SEO purposes so if you are blogging restrict your posts to the niche. To do otherwise will confuse your visitors and dilute your message to the search engines.

Keywords
Some keywords (and phrases) are highly competitive and, whilst it is not impossible, ranking for them will take a great deal of time and effort. Such keywords should be avoided because trying to rank for them will, in practice, be a waste of time even if you achieve the best WordPress SEO possible. You must take time to find keywords with a reasonable number of searches which are not too competitive. Good keyword selection will not guarantee your success but bad keyword selection will guarantee your failure. ..more..
